Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell has praised Rinku Singh for his impressive performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and advised him to remain humble. The 25-year-old has become the latest heartthrob of the KKR team after smashing five consecutive sixes in a match against the Gujarat Titans and a last-ball four against the Punjab Kings.
Russell expressed his happiness for Rinku, who he referred to as a good friend and a funny guy. He urged Rinku to continue his consistent performance and stay grounded despite the attention he is receiving. Russell emphasized the importance of humility, stating that it was crucial to prevent overconfidence from affecting performance.
Although Russell played a vital role in KKR’s five-wicket win over the Punjab Kings, he failed to finish the game and was run-out in the final over. However, Rinku remained calm and hit the winning run. Russell said he had faith in Rinku to get the job done and was confident that he would remain fearless in any situation.
Rinku has been a revelation for the KKR team this season, filling in for the injured regular skipper Shreyas Iyer. Russell praised Rinku’s ability to stay calm and face any kind of delivery. He also commended Rinku’s simple technique, which has been the key to his success.
Russell also spoke highly of his West Indian teammate Sunil Narine, who has come under intense pressure after picking just one wicket in eight matches. Although Narine returned wicket-less in their recent match against the Punjab Kings, Russell pointed out that his tidy figures helped KKR to restrict the opposition to a modest total of 179/7.
Russell concluded by emphasizing that their recent win was a total team effort, and he was grateful for the contributions made by his teammates. Despite their slim playoff hopes, KKR’s recent win has given them renewed confidence, and they will be looking to continue their winning form in the remaining matches of the IPL.
