Sharad Kelkar, the Indian actor known for his performances in movies like “Ram Leela”, “Tanhaji” and web series like “The Family Man”, recently revealed that lending his voice to Lord Ram in the Hindi dubbed version of “Adipurush” was his most challenging voice role to date. The period saga is directed by Om Raut of “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior” fame and produced by T-Series. The movie stars Telugu actor Prabhas in the lead role and is set to release in June.
According to Kelkar, voice acting is a responsible job as one mistake can ruin the actor’s performance on screen. He added that as a voice actor, he feels responsible for lending his voice to characters like Lord Ram and Nani’s character in his upcoming Telugu movie “Dasara”. Kelkar previously dubbed for Prabhas in the superhit “Baahubali” franchise.
Kelkar also shared that his baritone voice has often pigeonholed him into specific types of roles. He said that it’s a disadvantage for him as an actor because people tend to offer him similar kinds of roles, like a cop or a villain. However, he tries to do different kinds of stuff to prove that he can play different roles and that his strength lies in his acting, not just his voice.
Apart from his voice role in “Adipurush”, Kelkar’s latest release is the heist drama “Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga”, also starring Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal. The movie is directed by Ajay Singh and produced by Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films. Kelkar plays the character of Shaikh, an important government officer investigating the heist.
Kelkar said that he was keen to explore the genre of heist films and found the story of “Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga” interesting. He added that he liked the twist in the story and that he had heard the story earlier when Amar Kaushik and writer Siraj Ahmed had narrated it to him.
“Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga” started streaming on Netflix from Friday.
