Tata Motors and Honda Cars India have announced price hikes for their vehicles starting from April 1, 2023. Tata Motors revealed that it will increase prices of its commercial vehicles by 5% due to the need to comply with the more stringent BS6 phase II emission norms. The company assures that customers and fleet owners can expect a range of cleaner, greener, and technologically superior offerings that deliver higher benefits and lower total cost of ownership as the company transitions its entire vehicle portfolio to meet these standards. The price increase will apply to the entire range of commercial vehicles, with the exact amount varying according to the individual model and variant.
On the other hand, Honda Cars India will be implementing a price increase for its entry-level sedan Amaze, which will be compliant with the BS VI Phase II norms. Honda recently launched the City in petrol and strong hybrid powertrains, which are BS-VI Real Driving Emission (RDE) compliant on E5 fuel and E20 material compatible. Meanwhile, Kia India has introduced its refreshed RDE-compliant vehicle lineup with updated powertrains and additional features in the Seltos, the Sonet, and the Carens. The refreshed line-up now comes with enhanced petrol powertrains, which are compatible with the E20 fuel.
With the implementation of the BS6 phase II emission norms, automakers are pushed to improve their engine technologies to reduce air pollution. While this comes at a cost, it will lead to a more sustainable future, with more fuel-efficient and eco-friendly vehicles. As such, customers can expect price hikes on various models as automakers invest in R&D to develop cleaner, greener, and more technologically advanced vehicles.
